Temporary Insanity

Sometimes I wonder where people come up with this excuse for some of the insane and criminal things that they do. What kind of stress are they undergoing? Did they lose their jobs? Their families? Is it just something in their DNA or genetic makeup? Lately, I wonder what keeps me from going POSTAL. Recently I have described, in depth, some of things that I run into on a daily basis. Add to this a family of 6 ( myself, wife of 15 years and 4 sons; 21,19,18,16), weekly volunteer work( Feed America ), church service and helping numerous family and friends within a 75 mile radius. Isn’t this enough to drive anyone insane?

On top of this normal stuff, next Wednesday is my 15th anniversary( incidentally my Feed America day ), Thursday is Thanksgiving and for the next week or so, we are the proud babysitters of 4 other children( 6,5,3,1). In one of my other posts, I reported that the repairs had been made. Everything was finished except the new vinyl flooring, which is cosmetic. Yesterday we were supposed to install. However, a tenant called and had 2 water leaks. By the rules of triage, this was more pressing. This morning I got a call that somehow the lady tripped on the cut edge of the old vinyl and broke her arm and wrist. Don’t know how, it was flat against the plywood. And I feel like crap! So, if there is nation-wide report of a crazy man in Camden, SC in the next few days, you’ll know that I have gone temporarily insane. Thanks for your support.

  1. Temporarily?

    • Well,that’s what I pray for. Temporary.

  2. I only gets busier from here on. Tis the season.

    My personal trick . . . breathe in . . . breathe out . . . repeat.

    • Thanks Dee. That’s what I do daily.

  3. My personal trick, beyond the obvious (deep breaths) take a break from it all, read a book or simply go for a walk. Then make a list (I love lists) and figure out what is on the top (Rank them) then just do things in order.

    • Thanks Linda. Unfortunately, those that know me, know that I’m more of a head-first, bulldozing kind of guy. To many years operating heavy equipment. LOL.
